APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF THREE (3) BACTERIOSTATIC INDUCTION SPRAYERS FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, FROM BYOPLANET, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $12,794.00.
BACKGROUND: The Fire Department has been awarded a County grant for the purchase of three Bacteriostatic Induction Sprayers. Attached is a quote from Byoplanet, in the amount of $12,794.00. Byoplanet is the sole source supplier of various products (please see the attached letter). Byoplanet’s innovative design is the only sprayer on the market that allows the spray particles to be ionized and adhere to any substrate, thus providing an almost 100% coverage of the area. This will properly cover the area and give the most disinfectant dispersal. Byoplanet’s induction sprayer is the only applicator on the market that will do this. Currently the Fire Department does not have a way to efficiently disinfect their trucks and stations. This system will allow us to disinfect the units quicker and more efficiently. We would purchase 3 units with this grant allowing all our rescue units and living quarters the use of this equipment.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve.
FISCAL IMPACT: None. Entire purchase covered by grant. Per the Budget Ordinance, the 2016 budget will be automatically amended for the purchase of this equipment that was approved under Resolution 16-198.
