Title
APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH GOLD COAST TRANSIT, INC. FOR SUPPLY AND MAINTENANCE OF BUS BENCHES WITH WASTE RECEPTACLES AND BUS TRANSIT SHELTERS WITH WASTE RECEPTACLES.

Body

BACKGROUND: Since February 7, 2007, the City has contracted with Gold Coast Transit, Inc. to supply and maintain bus benches with waste receptacles, bus transit shelters with waste receptacles, and a bench and shelter advertising program on such. The initial agreement had been renewed for two successive three-year terms and expired on March 10, 2016. On February 3, 2016, the City Commission approved an extension to this agreement until such time that a new agreement could be negotiated between the City and Gold Coast Transit, Inc. The new proposed agreement will be for an initial term of three (3) years with two (2) successive one (1) year renewals unless either party gives notice to the other party that they wish to terminate this agreement ninety (90) days before the end of the current term then in force. As part of this proposed new agreement, Gold Coast Transit, Inc. agrees to an increase in payment to the City for the right to supply bus benches with waste receptacles, transit shelters with waste receptacles, to maintain same, and to manage an advertising program for the City. In addition, the new agreement provides for an age-based replacement schedule of bus benches and transit shelters, an advertising co-op between the City and Gold Coast at no cost to the City, and the ability to promote City-sponsored special events on a select number of unsold advertising spaces at no cost to the City. As per F.S.S. 337.408, a municipality may authorize the installation, without public bid, of benches and transit shelters together with advertising displayed thereon.
