RESOLUTION - APPROVING A FORM AGREEMENT FOR A NON-EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE COLLECTION SERVICE FOR OWNER-OCCUPIED MULTIFAMILY COMMUNITIES AND NON-RESIDENTIAL NON-MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR AND CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAID AGREEMENTS, ON AN ONGOING BASIS WITHOUT FURTHER COMMISSION ACTION, ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF MARGATE.

BACKGROUND:                                                                                     This resolution provides an updated form agreement for a non-exclusive franchise for the collection of municipal solid waste (garbage) from owner-occupied multifamily communities (condominiums) not included in the exclusive franchise as well as the collection of commercial non-municipal solid waste (construction and demolition debris, hazardous waste, Class III commercial waste, etc.) in conformity with the changes made to Chapter 19 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Margate by Ordinance No. 2015-9.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:                                          Revenue equal to 5% of the gross receipts from all owner-occupied multifamily accounts and non-residential non-municipal solid waste accounts served within the limits of the City and initial and renewal application fees ($150 and $50 each respectively). The City currently only receives revenue equal to 5% of the gross receipts from all non-residential non-municipal solid waste accounts served within the limits of the City.
