Title

APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO THE INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MARGATE AND THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (MCRA).

Body

BACKGROUND:

In August 2013 the City and MCRA entered into an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) that outlines the relationship between the two entities i.e., what administrative services the City will provide to the MCRA, the reimbursement by the MCRA to the City for those services, record-keeping responsibilities, etc.  The agreement states that the among other things, the City will provide the MCRA with office space at City Hall and legal services through the City Attorney’s office.   The MCRA recently obtained its own attorney, and the agency will soon be relocating its offices to 6280 W. Atlantic Boulevard, therefore it is appropriate at this time to modify the ILA.  Other changes to the agreement involve clarification of the functions to be provided by the Finance Department.

The MCRA approved the amended agreement at its meeting of August 23, 2016, by a vote of 5-0.

RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the Resolution amending the Interlocal Agreement between the City of Margate and the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency.

FISCAL IMPACT:  Under the amended Agreement the MCRA will pay the City $749,968.00 as compensation for services in FY 2017.  Future years’ payments will be adjusted based on factors such as CPI increases,                      personnel changes, increased workload, etc., and will be handled through a memorandum of understanding executed by both parties.
