Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (MCRA), AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN LANDSCAPE SERVICE PROFESSIONALS, INC. AND THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR MAINTENANCE OF LANDSCAPE AND IRRIGATION SERVICES FOR MCRA OWNED PROPERTIES AND MEDIAN AREAS WITHIN THE VARIOUS RIGHTS OF WAY ON ATLANTIC BOULEVARD, 441/SR 7 AND MARGATE BOULEVARD
Body
BACKGROUND: At the last meeting, staff provided a report on damages to the medians due to numerous traffic accidents that require repair work to the landscaping and irrigation.

Currently, the MCRA is contracted with Landscape Service Professional, Inc. (LSP), to provide ongoing landscape and irrigation maintenance of the median areas on State Road 7, Coconut Creek Parkway and Atlantic Boulevard east of 441. The Agreement, which was approved on October 15, 2015, is about to be extended for an additional year. The current Agreement does not include a provision for repairs related to vehicular/pedestrian damage on a repetitive basis. When repair work is required, staff requests a quote from LSP and authorizes the work on as needed basis as an additional work item outlined in the current agreement.

Since the repair work has become more frequent, staff is requesting an amendment to the Agreement with LSP to include a provision that addresses repair and replacement of landscaping damaged as a result of pedestrian and/or vehicular impacts at rates contained on Exhibit "A" of the amendment. The line item would be for an amount not to exceed Twenty Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($25,000.00) annually. LSP will still be required to provide quotes as needed and will not proceed with repairs without authorization of staff.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the amendment to the Agreement with Landscape Service Professionals, Inc., to include a provision for repair and replaceme...
