Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY, AMENDING THE TASK ORDER WITH CRAVEN THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR THE WATERFRONT PROMENADE PROJECT

Body

BACKGROUND:                     In April 2016, the CRA Board approved a Task Order for the initial two steps for the design of the Waterfront Promenade:  1). A topographical/hydrographical survey of the existing canal and area planned for a future lake; and 2). Preparation of preliminary site plan, landscape and hardscape plans.  In addition, prior to the survey, a separate contract was undertaken to remove extensive exotic vegetation and Australian pine trees from the canal bank in order to gain visibility and facilitate the survey.

The results of this survey have shown that the limits of the existing canal are in some locations, well beyond the recorded drainage easements which served as a baseline for the City Center Site Plan.  Prior to proceeding to preliminary design, it will therefore be necessary to further analyze the impact of the actual canal boundaries on the Waterfront Promenade design and budget, the current water management permit, and the City Center Site Plan, particularly the sites established for the CRA’s proposed community center and amphitheater.

This amendment to the Task Order provides funding for this additional analysis.  Also, the original task order included all professional fees for the survey and preliminary design work but did not include a budget for potential reimbursable expenses.  This budget is included in this amendment.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve Amendment to the Task Order.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Task Order is increased by $4,500.00 to $29,515.00, which is included in the FY 2016 Capital Budget under “Waterfront Promenade/Boat Launch”
