Title
APPROVING STATE OF FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION FLORIDA RECREATION DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (FRDAP) GRANT AGREEMENT NO. U7040; PROVIDING FOR PARTIAL FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $204,500 FOR THE MARGATE SPORTS COMPLEX CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR MINIMUM FIFTY PERCENT (50%) MATCH BY THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR TERM ENDING JUNE 30, 2019; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AND SUBMIT ALL RELATED DOCUMENTS.
BACKGROUND: The City applied for a FRDAP grant in the amount of $500,000 and has been awarded partial funding in the amount of $204,500 towards the Margate Sports Complex Capital Improvement project. As part of the FRDAP grant award, $204,500.00 will be dedicated to providing recreational enhancement and opportunities for individuals with unique abilities. Planned improvements for unique abilities include; renovating existing playground with 100% accessible surfacing and equipment for ages 2-5 and 5-12, improvements to the existing fitness trail, improvements to baseball fields, renovation of existing dugouts with storage, improvements to the spectator areas, new batting cages to be installed between each field, improvements to park furnishings, and various landscaping improvements as needed.
RECOMMENDATION: To Approve
FISCAL IMPACT: $204,500 grant from the State of Florida
$204,500 minimum match from the City
