BACKGROUND:                                           On January 18, 2017, the City Commission approved the City’s 2017 State Legislative Priorities for the upcoming Florida Legislative session. Included as a priority of the City Commission is to support the ability of local governments to levy a special assessment for law enforcement services. The City’s Lobbyist, David K. Sigerson, consulted with Senator Perry E. Thurston, Jr. and Representative Barrington A. Russell who both agreed to sponsor bills supporting the ability for local governments to levy this special assessment.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:                     None at this time.
