Title

APPROVE THE AGREEMENT WITH ZAMBELLI FIREWORKS MANUFACTURING CO., FOR THE 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS DISPLAY

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The City of Margate will host the annual 4th of July event which is sponsored in part by the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency.

The outline of the activities is as follows;

9:00am - 11:30am - 4th of July Parade

11:30am - 1:00pm - Next to City Hall - hot dogs, chips, drink will be served immediately following the parade

1:00pm - 5:00pm - Pool party at Calypso Cove

5:00pm - 9:00pm - Margate Boulevard - live band, bounce houses, and food trucks (Margate Boulevard will be shut down from 1:00pm-10:00pm).

9:00pm - Fireworks (State Road 7 will be shut down at approximately 7:30pm between Coconut Creek Parkway and Atlantic Boulevard and will reopen after the fireworks display).

At a recent City Commission meeting, a request was made to add additional fireworks to the event.  After that meeting, the Parks and Recreation Department reached out to the provider, Zambelli and increased the amount to $24,500 for the fireworks display. Generally, the fireworks are paid from the funds allocated as part of the CRA sponsorship of the event.

RECOMMENDATION:  Approve the agreement with Zambelli to provide the fireworks display for the 4th of July event.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is allocated in 140-0510-512.30-24 in the amount of $40,000 for the event.
