Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY (MCRA), AUTHORIZING A SECOND AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN LANDSCAPE SERVICE PROFESSIONALS, INC. AND THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR MAINTENANCE OF LANDSCAPE AND IRRIGATION SERVICES FOR MCRA OWNED PROPERTIES AND MEDIAN AREAS WITHIN THE VARIOUS RIGHTS OF WAY ON ATLANTIC BOULEVARD, 441/SR 7 AND MARGATE BOULEVARD

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The MCRA contracts Landscape Service Professional, Inc. (LSP), to provide ongoing landscape and irrigation maintenance of the median areas on State Road 7, Coconut Creek Parkway and Atlantic Boulevard east of 441.  At the October 20, 2016 meeting, the Board approved an amendment to the LSP agreement to add a provision that addressed repair and replacement of landscaping damaged as a result of pedestrian and/or vehicular impacts.  The allocation of funds was based on prior year’s spending for repairs and in an amount not to exceed Twenty Five Thousand and 00/100 Dollars ($25,000.00) annually.

Unfortunately, due to increase of damages sustained from vehicular accidents the amount allocated has been exhausted and will need to be increased by $15,000 to cover the remainder of the Fiscal Year.  As before, LSP will still be required to provide quotes as needed and will not proceed with repairs without authorization of staff.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve the amendment to the Agreement with Landscape Service Professionals, Inc., increasing the amount for repair and replacement of landscaping damaged as a result of pedestrian and/or vehicular impacts in an amount not to exceed $40,000 annually.

FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is allocated in 140-0510-512-31.38 Professional Property Maintenance
