Title

WINFIELD BOULEVARD TRAFFIC CALMING AND STREETSCAPE IMPROVEMENTS

Body

BACKGROUND:  Winfield Boulevard is a gateway into a large residential area comprised primarily of single family homes.  The existing medians at the east end of the roadway are in poor condition, the lanes are wide and residents complain about cars speeding along the roadway. In the FY2017 Capital Improvement Program budget, the Board approved an allocation of funding for traffic calming and streetscape improvements to Winfield Boulevard between 441 and NW 63rd Avenue.

At the December meeting, the Board approved a task order for Keith & Associates, Inc. to create final design and engineering plans for the Winfield Boulevard Traffic Calming and Streetscape Improvement project based on comments received at a public meeting and input from the Board.

The final plans include traffic calming by restriping and narrowing the travel lanes, some underground improvements required as part of the project, two (2) landscaped roundabouts and beautification of the existing median areas.
