Title
CONSIDERATION OF COLONIAL DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS FINAL PLANS
BACKGROUND: The CRA has been working with Northwest Medical Center to address safety issues arising from pedestrian crossings on Colonial Drive between an overflow parking lot to the south and the hospital property on the north side of Colonial Drive. The CRA engaged the services of engineering consultants Keith & Associates to study the area and present alternative conceptual design solutions.
The recommended design concept, which evolved through meetings with the hospital administration, City and County Engineering staff and a nearby housing community (Coral Cay Plantation), was presented to the CRA Board at its December 13, 2016 meeting. At the CRA Board meeting of January 11, 2017, a required budget transfer and Task Order authorizing Keith & Associates to prepare final construction drawings was approved by the Board.
The construction plans have been finalized and reviewed by City Engineering staff and are ready to be packaged for bid, if the Board so directs.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize staff to prepare and issue bid documents and solicit bids via the City’s Purchasing Department.
FISCAL IMPACT: Funding is allocated in account 340-0510-512.69-06.
