APPROVAL OF AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE DEFINITIONS AND REGULATIONS FOR TEMPORARY FEATHER BANNER SIGNS AND INFLATABLE SIGNS.

BACKGROUND:
At their April 5, 2017 meeting, the Margate City Commission directed Staff to research and draft an ordinance permitting temporary feather banner signs and inflatable signs for grand openings of businesses. This ordinance proposes to provide definitions and regulations of these proposed signs. A motion was seconded and approved at the first reading to include the word “square” in Section 39.7(B)(1)(c)1 Election signs.
RECOMMENDATION: This item was approved by the Development Review Committee on May 23, 2017. A copy of the meeting minutes is attached. The item was approved with height and setback changes at the Planning and Zoning Board meeting on July 11, 2017 with a 5-0 vote. A draft copy of those meeting minutes is attached. The City Commission approved first reading of this ordinance on August 23, 2017.
