Title
APPROVING AN EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT WITH SAMUEL A. MAY AS CITY MANAGER FOR THE CITY OF MARGATE.
BACKGROUND: Samuel A. May was appointed Interim City Manager on January 18, 2017. Over the past 9 months, Mr. May has had the opportunity to further acquaint himself with City administration, daily operations, many of its residents, business owners, and employees, and has worked closely with the City Commission.
Samuel A. May has been a dedicated City of Margate employee for nearly three decades. He was hired in 1988 as an Engineering Inspector. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Public Works Superintendent in 2003, then to Public Works Director in 2009. Mr. May holds a Master of Arts in Administrative Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Barry University.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve an employment agreement with Samuel A. May as City Manager.
FISCAL IMPACT: Annual base salary of $191,052 and related benefits as enumerated in the agreement.
