APPROVING APPOINTMENT OF ________________ TO THE FIVE MEMBER MARGATE PLANNING AND ZONING BOARD FOR THE VACATED POSITION TO FULFILL THE REMAINDER OF THE CURRENT TERM ENDING MARCH 21, 2019.

BACKGROUND: The Margate Planning and Zoning Board is a five (5) member committee with a two (2) year term for the current term ending on March 21, 2019. The passing of Ordinance 2013-2 on March 6, 2013, created the current appointment and application procedures for the Margate Planning and Zoning Board.
Planning and Zoning Board Member Phil Hylander was absent for three (3) board meetings this past calendar year. These meeting dates were February 7, 2017, November 7, 2017 and December 5, 2017.
Mr. Hylander was nominated by Commissioner Peerman at the March 16, 2016 Regular City Commission meeting.
Per Section 2-74 of the City Code:
If any member of any city board or committee of the City of Margate fails to attend three (3) regular board or committee meetings during any one (1) calendar year, said member shall automatically be deemed to have resigned from said board or committee and a new member shall be appointed by the city commission for the remainder of the term of said member. This shall not preclude the city commission from reappointing the same member to the same board or committee for the remainder of the unexpired term.
