A RESOLUTION OF THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN ANJED GROUP, INC. AND THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY FOR THE COLONIAL DRIVE ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $135,483.43; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE

Body

BACKGROUND:  Pursuant to the MCRA Plan, the Colonial Drive Improvements project provides for enhanced pedestrian and bicycle crossings to improve safety, particularly for hospital employees and local residents.  The project includes lane and median modifications; installation of solar powered RRFB’s (rectangular rapid flash beacons) for pedestrian crossings; new pavement markings and solar Reflective Pavement Markers (RPMs); and new irrigation and landscaping.

A Notice Inviting Bid was issued with a submittal deadline of December 11, 2017.  Four sealed bids were received and opened on that date from Anjed Group, Inc., Stanford Construction Company, Florida Blacktop, Inc., and PE Services, L.L.C.

Keith & Associates, the project Engineer, has evaluated the bids and recommends the lowest bidder, Anjed Group. Inc., for the project.  The proposed contract amount includes the base bid of $123,166.75 plus 10% contingency of $12,316.68 for a total of $135,483.43. The permit fees, estimated at $6,500, will be paid by the CRA directly to the City of Margate for the required City permits.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve entering into an agreement with Anjed Group, Inc. for the Colonial Drive Improvements project in the amount of $135,483.43, with the CRA paying City permit fees.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Total impact is $135,483.43, plus an estimated $6,500 in City permit fees.  The FY 2018 budget allocated $150,000 to this project (account number 340-0510-512.69-06).
