BACKGROUND:                                          

The City of Margate, acting as lead agency for the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group, issued a bid document for furnishing and delivering Sodium Hydroxide 50% by weight.  A total of seven (7) bid packages were sent out and one (1) bid response was received from Allied Universal Corporation.  The pricing structure of the bid document required either truckload or less than truckload order quantities priced per gallon.  Allied Universal Corporation’s pricing for truckload order quantities (over 3,500 gallons) is $2.76/gallon and $3.34/gallon for less than truckload order quantities. 

 

It must be noted that Sodium Hydroxide 50% by weight was put out for bids last fiscal year under our Bid No. 2017-008 and the award did have renewal options remaining.  However, the awarded vendor (also Allied Universal Corporation) informed Staff that the bid pricing could not be held due to market condition changes.  Therefore, the current bid document was issued.  After review, Staff is recommending award of Bid No. 2018-013 to Allied Universal Corporation.
