APPROVING LETTER OF AGREEMENT AND CONTRACT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA TRAINING AND SERVICES INSTITUTE, INC., D/B/A INSTITUTE OF POLICE TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT (IPTM) AS PART OF THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION BICYCLE PEDESTRIAN FOCUSED INITIATIVE HIGH VISIBILITY ENFORCEMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR REIMBURSEMENT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $11,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
The Florida Department of Transportation, through a grant with the University of North Florida, utilizes law enforcement support to educate and enforce safe pedestrian, bicyclist, and driver behaviors in priority jurisdictions. The main objective of this funding is to reduce traffic crashes resulting in serious and fatal injuries to pedestrians and bicyclists through the use of selected traffic education and enforcement operations. All services for this grant funding must be completed by May 17, 2019 with law enforcement operations conducted in the identified areas within the City of Margate. The amount offered in this grant to the City of Margate, $11,000.00, will be used for reimbursement of costs associated with law enforcement personnel conducting these high visibility enforcement operations
