Title
COMPLETE STREETS PROGRAM.
BACKGROUND: Smart Growth America describes “Complete Streets” with the following statement:
“They are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities. Complete Streets make it easy to cross the street, walk to shops, and bicycle to work. They allow buses to run on time and make it safe for people to walk to and from train stations.”
The Broward County MPO will be opening the Complete Streets and other Localized Initiatives Program (CSLIP) application cycle soon. According to the MPO website, CSLIP “provides funding for small local transportation projects which improve the safety and mobility for all transportation users in Broward. This competitive grant program can fund projects such as (but not limited to): complete streets projects, traffic calming and intersection improvements, ADA upgrades, mobility hubs, bus shelters, bike racks and technology advancements such as transit signal priority and traffic control devices.”
RECOMMENDATION: Consider the complete streets and other small local transportation projects and provide direction as needed.
