RESOLUTION - APPROVING EXPENDITURE OF $2500 FOR HOME SPONSORSHIP OF THE SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES “STEPS FOR SOS 5K RUN/WALK” EVENT; APPROVING USE OF THE CITY’S MOBILE STAGE, APPROVING CITY PARTICIPATION OF AN INTERNAL “KICKOFF” EVENT HOSTED BY SOS CHILDREN’S VILLAGES STAFF AT CITY HALL; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BACKGROUND: During a presentation at the 8/22/18 Regular City Commission meeting, representatives from SOS Children’s Villages requested the following items to support their November 3, 2018 event:
• $2500 donation from the City for Home Sponsor status (includes one six-foot exhibit table w/tent and two chairs in the sponsor exhibit area; Logo prominently featured on all SOS Run/Walk t-shirts, posters, and brochures; Logo & link on Steps for SOS Web Site; Logo & link on Steps for SOS Run/Walk participant engagement emails; Logo & link on Steps for SOS Run/Walk participant engagement emails; Logo on banner prominently displayed at start/finish line; Logo prominently featured in select pre-event and post event materials)
• Use of the City’s mobile stage
• City hosting an “Internal Kickoff” event at City Hall staffed by SOS Children’s Villages staff members
RECOMMENDATION: Consideration of donation and account to be determined by the City Commission. The prior donations to SOS Children’s Villages were funded using the Citizen Project Initiatives Account 001-0110-511.99-04. There is currently $10,000 in this account.
