Title

RESOLUTION - APPROVING THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN BROWARD COUNTY AND CITY OF MARGATE FOR COST SHARE SUPPORT OF A WATER CONSERVATION INCENTIVES PROGRAM.

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The City of Margate has been a participant in the Broward Water Partnership (BWP) Conservation Pays water conservation program since its inception in 2011. As part of the program, the City of Margate provides funding for rebates for high-efficiency toilets and free water-conserving devices (showerheads and faucet aerators). As a result of the success of the program, we have exceeded our rebate goal of 108 rebates in each year of the program. Additional rebates beyond the initial goal of 108 were funded by a combination of grant funds the BWP received from the South Florida Water Management District and re-allocating funds to the rebates from the free water-conserving devices. The City has again exceeded its rebate goal this year. This amendment is to increase the level of funding available in future years by $2,500, or 25 rebates, to ensure that residents and businesses seeking rebates to purchase high-efficiency toilets are not turned away.

RECOMMENDATION:                     For approval.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     $2,500; Account 456-9090-536-55.08

The continuation of this Agreement beyond the end of any fiscal year shall be subject to the availability of funds from City.
