Title

APPROVING A TEMPORARY USE AGREEMENT WITH THE HART-T-TREE FARMS FOR THE SALE OF CHRISTMAS TREES AND RELATED ITEMS

Body

BACKGROUND:

Mr. John Francis, on behalf of the Hart-T-Tree Farms, a for-profit organization, has approached the MCRA Office requesting authorization to use the CRA owned property located at 1423 N. State Road from December 15, 2018 to December 23, 2018 for the sale of trees and related items.  The event will operate from 9:00 AM to 10:00PM every day.

In addition of requesting the use of the land, Hart-T-Tree Farms is also requesting a waiver of the event fee of $2,500 (fee for sales).  Please note that Hart-T-Tree Farms is donating part of their revenues from the sales of the trees to the Kiwanis Club of Margate-Coconut Creek.

It is important to highlight that the CRA Event Policy estates that the use of the CRA property shall be restricted to sponsors who have a business, non-profit organization or religious institution in the City of Margate. Further and according to the policy, the CRA Board may grant a reduction or waiver of fees upon written request by the sponsor and based upon the following considerations:

The event is for one day only

The event is sponsored by an entity other than a for-profit business, provides a specific community benefit, and is consistent with the CRA’s economic development and revitalization goals.

The sponsoring organization demonstrates that paying the fee would create a hardship and detract from the objective of the event.

Mr. Francis respectfully requests the approval of this event and waiver of fees for Hart-T-Tree Farms.

RECOMMENDATION:                     To Approve

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Waiver of the event fee of $2,500 (fee for sales)
