Title

APPROVING AN EXTENSION FOR THE BUSINESS INCENTIVE GRANT FOR THE NO FAMILY DENTAL, PA DBA MOLAR BEAR DENTAL (533-535 N. STATE ROAD 7).

Body

BACKGROUND:

The MCRA Board approved a Business Incentive Grant to the No Family Dental, PA dba Molar Bear Dental up to $25,000 via Resolution No. 570 on September 12th, 2018.  Below are the eligible costs under the MCRA Business Incentive Program:

                     New HVAC & Connections

                     Plumbing

                     Electrical

                     Flooring

                     Frame walls and dowel

                     Ceiling

                     Millwork and paint

As per the program policy and the executed grant agreement, the deadline to commence construction work is 45 days of the date of the agreement.  The business owner met this deadline by submitting permit applications and obtaining a required asbestos survey within the allowable time frame. Further, according to the program guidelines and executed grant agreement, the deadline to complete the project is 180 days of the date of the agreement. This date would be March 11, 2019.  The business owner and her general contractor have been diligently working on the project.  Unfortunately, after the internal demolition was completed, the general contractor discovered asbestos under the floor.  This this has caused an unforeseen delay due to additional work and permitting required.  Asbestos needs to be properly removed before moving forward with any other work.

As a result, Dr. Ngo has requested a six month extension to complete the project with a new deadline of Wednesday, September 11, 2019. Dr. Ngo recognizes the importance to complete the project on a timely manner as this will be her primary dental practice.

If the six-month extension is granted, the MCRA reimbursement will be processed according to the program policy.
