DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - EXPENDITURE FOR ADDITIONAL BULK WASTE AND YARD WASTE COLLECTION SERVICES, FOR CITY OF MARGATE RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS, FROM THE CITIZEN PROJECT INITIATIVES COMMITTED FUND BALANCE.

Body

BACKGROUND:                                          At the December 12, 2018 Commission meeting, the City Commission approved the expenditure for additional bulk waste collection services for Margate residential customers, from the Citizen Project Initiatives Committed Fund balance, through September 30, 2019 with a re-opener conversation to begin in June 2019.  This agenda item is to provide the opportunity for the City Commission to discuss whether they wish to continue funding the additional bulk waste collection services with City funds.

The City has expended $43,500.60 to date with an average expenditure of $10,875.15 per month. The service portion of the rates are adjusted based on the CPI, with a 4% cap. The disposal portion charges will also increase proportionally to any increase in disposal fees.

RECOMMENDATION:                     For consideration by the City Commission.

FISCAL IMPACT:                                          To be determined.
