REQUEST TO PURCHASE OFF-ROAD UTILITY VEHICLE FOR POLICE APPROVING ACQUISITION OF ONE (1) 2019 POLARIS RANGER OFF-ROAD VEHICLE UTILIZING AN EXISTING FLORIDA SHERIFF’S ASSOCIATION BID AWARD, AND APPROVING WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR THE ANCILLARY EQUIPMENT TO MAINTAIN STANDARDIZATION, WITH THE ACQUISITION BEING FUNDED FROM THE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND (FEDERAL) AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $13,000.
BACKGROUND: The police department staffs city events to provide security. Many of the larger scale city events are located in parks, fields, or on roadways which are barricaded making it difficult for conventional police vehicles to respond in emergencies. In an effort to increase the police personnel’s responsiveness in emergency situations, it is recommended that an off-road vehicle is purchased.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval
