Title
AUTHORIZING EXPENDITURES FOR BOND RELATED PROJECTS AT SOUTHEAST PARK, PHASE I TO INCLUDE CONVERSION OF TWO (2) ARTIFICIAL TURF SOCCER FIELDS, AND A NEWLY CONSTRUCTED PLAYGROUND, UTILIZING ESTABLISHED GOVERNMENTAL CONTRACT PRICING; ALL PHASES SHALL NOT EXCEED $1,900,000.
BACKGROUND: Consensus was given at a commission workshop to prioritize Southeast Park as the number one priority project once the bond money was available. The improvements include, purchasing direct from the manufacturer, a turn-key installation of two (2) Field Turf, Inc. artificial turf soccer fields by a certified field builder at a cost of $1,235,332.35. There is an option to substitute the infill material to a cool play product designed to decrease the surface temperature of the fields by up to 35 degrees Fahrenheit for an additional $71,995.37.
Purchasing direct from playground certified installers a brand new shaded playground meeting all regulatory safety standards and designed for ages 2-5 and ages 5-12 is at a cost of $283,663.30. The playground is themed for soccer, and is designed to meet the same high standards of the Margate Sports Complex playground.
In addition to the above mentioned Phase I improvements which represent a combined total of $1,590,991.02 in expenditures, any additional expenditures, such as shade improvements, bleachers, goals, park furnishings, exercise equipment, etc. as referenced during the commission workshop shall be procured and authorized by means of current City procurement guidelines; not to exceed the total allocated bond budget of $1,900,000 for Southeast Park.
