Title

AWARDING BID NO. 2019-002 - 2018 WATER MAIN IMPROVEMENTS, PHASE II TO MARCDAN, INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1,497,921; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Body

BACKGROUND:  Bid No. 2019-002 - 2018 Water Main Improvements, Phase II is a project for the replacement of approximately 12,000 linear feet of existing water mains.  A map showing the locations is included in the agenda item backup.

A total of fifteen bid responses were received and the lowest four were reviewed extensively by the City’s engineering consultant Craig A. Smith & Associates, Inc. (CAS) to confirm compliance with bid specifications and completeness.  The consultant has recommended award to Marcdan, Inc. and concluded that the firm is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder as indicated by the award recommendation letter and associated backup which are also included as agenda item backup.  The Department of Environmental and Engineering Services concurs with the consultant’s review and also recommends award of Bid No. 2019-002 to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, Marcdan, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $1,497,921; which has been adjusted by $50 less than bidder’s submission total due to a mathematical error on line item No. 40 of the bid submission.
