Title
AMENDED GUIDELINES FOR THE NEW BUSINESS INCENTIVE GRANT PROGRAM
BACKGROUND: The guidelines for the New Business Incentive Grant program were reviewed and approved at a Special MCRA meeting held on May 16, 2019. Based on direction provided by the Board, the guidelines were updated and are attached. Upon reviewing the revised guidelines, there are two questions that require further clarification:
1) The value of construction on a building only includes those things that the Building Department inspects; for example, carpeting would not be included because it is not inspected.
Is it the intent of the Board to include only those items that can be inspected?
2) The Board’s direction was to include businesses that were not eligible for the grant in the guidelines. In trying to develop that list, is it more appropriate to identify categories of desired businesses or to identify those that are not wanted, i.e., restaurants vs. auto repair?
