Title
DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - DEVELOPMENT PERMIT APPROVAL PROCESS.
BACKGROUND: At the July 3, 2019 City Commission meeting, Vice Mayor Ruzzano requested that discussion and possible action item regarding the development permit approval process be added to the August 28, 2019 meeting.
There are several types of permits that are processed by the Development Services Department. Some are approved by the staff, others by the Development Review Committee, and others by the City Commission. The attached PowerPoint summarizes each permit type and the roles of various entities.
Some of the permits are classified by Florida Statute as “Development Permits” or “Development Orders.” By statute, these permits have specific time frames in which a determination of application completeness must be made and, once an application is determined to be complete, when approval or denial must be determined. The PowerPoint presentation details those requirements.
