RESOLUTION - RECOGNIZING FLORIDA CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK FOR OCTOBER 21-27, 2019.

BACKGROUND: This year’s Florida City Government Week is October 21-27, 2019, and the Florida League of Cities (FLC) is encouraging every municipality to take an active part in promoting their city through civic education and volunteerism. Florida City Government Week is part of an ongoing effort sponsored by the (FLC) to raise public awareness about the services that cities perform and to educate the public on how city government works. Cities are encouraged to involve their local schools, businesses, media and civic clubs in planning City Government Week activities. Each year the City of Margate celebrates Florida City Government by hosting a Student Government Day where approximately 30 students from Margate Middle School participate in a mock City Commission meeting and tour of City departments.
