Title

VEHICLE SIGN CODE AMENDMENTS

Body

BACKGROUND:  Recently, we received an inquiry from a local business asking if a trailer mounted sign was allowed in the City. Based on the current code, it was determined, if the trailer was located within 100 feet of any right-of-way for less than three (3) hours, it was permitted. The business also indicated that they we looking at acquiring two trailers, so they could have such a sign located near the right-of-way for six (6) hours.

The staff believes that once the first trailer mounted sign is used, there could be a proliferation of such signs.

Attached is a proposed ordinance that revises the City’s Code to prohibit vehicle signs.

RECOMMENDATION:  The staff recommends approval of the attached ordinance.
