Title

RESOLUTION - APPROVING FUNDING AND WAIVING OF BIDDING FOR THE RENOVATION OF THE MARGATE POLICE DEPARTMENT’S TRAINING AND TRANSIT (TNT) BUILDING. TO BE FUNDED BY THE GENERAL FUND AT A COST NOT TO EXCEED $92,000.

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The TNT facility in its current design restricts the ability to offer additional resources to the community and officers within the department, this facility lacks functionality. The facility is currently equipped with one bathroom and one classroom which limits the ability to utilize this space for community events and additional training. The recommended renovations at this location will provide the necessary accommodations for a full-service training facility and community center thus benefitting the department and the community.

Due to the anticipated dollar amount for                      the project and the operations sensitive need, waiving of the formal bidding process is requested. However, due diligence has been performed and competitive pricing for the renovation project has been obtained and is attached.

Staff has carefully reviewed the proposals obtained and is requesting to move forward with Gold Coast Remodeling the lowest cost proposer for the interior renovations and with Climate Temp, Inc for the HVAC, electrical and associated roofing work. Please note that Climate Temp, Inc. provided the most inclusive proposal for the HVAC work since the electrical and roof work is included in the proposal submitted. However, those services were not part of the other proposer’s (Wind Chill LLC) offer.

Due to the agency’s critical need to renovate this facility, it is respectfully requested that the project be approved and funded as an expenditure via the General Fund.
