APPROVING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS, LOCAL #3080 FOR THE PERIOD FROM OCTOBER 1, 2019, THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30, 2022; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND:                     The following is a brief summary of some of the proposed amendments to the bargaining agreement.                     

 

Working out of Classification;

                     Amend Upgrade from $20-$30 per shift to 7.5% above base salary for all hours worked in higher position when assignment is for eight or more hours.

 

Compensation:

                     Duration of pay plan based upon 15 years for employees hired after the effective date of agreement.

                     Step plan increase of 3% effective on October 1, 2019; 2% on October 1, 2020; and 2% on October 1, 2021.   Employees must complete 6 months of employment to receive a step increase.

                     Add Fire Code Official for skill compensation.

 

Duration of Contract:

                     Provided for reopener of wage and departmental staffing articles should either party to the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) with Coconut Creek for Delivery of Emergency Medical and Fire Protection Services provide notification of termination of the ILA or within twelve months preceding the end of the ILA.

 

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:                     For approval.

 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Funding to be provided from existing resources within the General Fund.
