RESOLUTION - APPROVING FLORIDA POWER AND LIGHT COMPANY LED LIGHTING AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR INSTALLATION OR MODIFICATION OF LIGHTING WITHIN THE CITY OF MARGATE.

BACKGROUND:                                          

 

Florida Power and Light owns and maintains most of the street lighting within the residential communities of the City. They are working with numerous other Municipalities to change the existing light fixtures to LED lighting which will be brighter and reduce maintenance. This will benefit the residents by providing better security on the streets and help the police to see better.

 

RECOMMENDATION:                     

 

Public Works recommends signing of the agreement with FPL to upgrade their lighting to LED.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:                     

 

There is no cost to the City for the changing of the lights and a slight savings.
