Title

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION - BSO AND ALTERNATE OPTIONS FOR FIRE RESCUE SERVICES

Body

BACKGROUND:                     Last month the City of Coconut Creek approved moving forward with transitioning from Margate-Coconut Creek Fire Rescue to their own Coconut Creek Fire Rescue. While we continue discussions of maintaining the 20-year relationship with Coconut Creek, it is important for us to have all options and alternatives should the two City’s separate service in FY 2022.

One option is Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) Department of Fire Rescue. Another option is a regionalized system between Coral Springs, Parkland, Margate and Coconut Creek. I am requesting direction from the Commission to pursue these alternatives for fire rescue services in Margate.

RECOMMENDATION:                     For discussion.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     To be determined.
