Body

BACKGROUND:

The City advertised RFP 2020-011 for a new bocce ball court project at David Park.  Even though eleven contractors and more than eight different additional parties showed interested in the project and received the RFP document, no responses to the RFP were received.  Likely, the current COVID-19 pandemic was a significant factor in the lack of responses to the RFP.

City Code allows the Purchasing Manager to negotiate for necessary goods or services in such instances.  Through the Director of Parks and Recreation, staff has reconnected with the firm Fast Dry Courts, Inc., a firm that provided the lowest turnkey (inclusive of lighting) price proposal during our investigative stage of this project.  Even though their project pricing was initially provided in early February of this year and expired after thirty (30) days, staff has successfully reached an understanding with Fast Dry to complete the project as initially proposed at no additional cost to the City.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve project with Fast Dry Courts, Inc.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     $55,000 - Account No. 334-6539-572.65-81
