Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING THE FEE STRUCTURE FOR ALCOHOL EXTENDED HOURS PERMITS; PROVIDING FOR APPLICATION FEE, LATE FEE, AND BOND; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Body

BACKGROUND:                                           On September 12, 2019, the City Commission hosted workshop to discuss Code Compliance.  During this discussion, the Commission had consensus to revise the allowable hours to sell or serve alcohol and eliminate the extended hours permits.  Staff prepared an ordinance as directed.  On November 5, 2020 the Planning & Zoning recommended approval of the ordinance, with a recommendation to expand allowable extended hours on selected calendar dates.  First reading of the ordinance was held by the City Commission on December 4, 2020, and the item was tabled.  First reading was approved on January 22, 2020.  On January 29, 2020 the ordinance was approved with a number of changes on second reading.  Changes at second reading consisted of maintaining the existing hours, and revising the extended permits to provide for an administrative approval rather than Commission approval, and creating two tiers of extended hours permits.  This resolution is a follow-up to Ordinance 2020-1500.652 with the express purpose of establishing a fee schedule, including bond amounts, for extended hours permitting.
