Body

BACKGROUND:                     Margate Police Department participates in a variety of multi-agency task force campaigns that are used for crime prevention efforts. In doing so, there are overtime expenses that are incurred. The expenses are reimbursed by the task force’s managing agency to the City of Margate. Pursuant to Florida State Statute, expenses related to crime prevention efforts are permissible expenditures of State Law Enforcement Trust Funds.

Due to the law enforcement need for this expenditure, I certify the use of State Law Enforcement Trust Funds for overtime expenses directly related to participation in multi-agency law enforcement task force groups. Overtime expenses related to these crime prevention efforts is an appropriate expenditure under permissible usages of equitable shared funds that are necessary to perform official law enforcement operations.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approval
