BACKGROUND:                     The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) received a Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding award from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to be used to prepare for, prevent, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic. FDLE is passing through a portion of this funding as subawards to units of local government. The City of Margate has been identified as an agency who may benefit from this funding and has been preapproved for $168,393 to be utilized for coronavirus-specific expenditures. FDLE solicited applications for this funding and the Margate Police Department submitted a proposal which has been accepted.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approval

FISCAL IMPACT:                     The allocation of $168,393 is based on FY2019 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) allocations.  There is no City match required for this grant.
