CONSIDERATION OF A TEMPORARY USE PERMIT (TUP), TO ALLOW A SEASONAL SALES EVENT ON COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1423 NORTH STATE ROAD 7, FROM MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16 THROUGH MONDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2020.
BACKGROUND: The Kiwanis Club of Margate/Coconut Creek is seeking permission to operate a seasonal sales event for the sale of Christmas trees located at 1423 North State Road 7. Event dates will range from Monday, November 16 through Monday, December 21, 2020. Applicant is seeking permission to operate the seasonal sale for a total of 36 consecutive calendar days. Section 3.24 of the Margate Zoning Code authorizes staff to approve seasonal sales for up to 30 consecutive calendar days.
The applicant received approval from the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Board on October 14, 2020 for the use of the CRA owned property for the above referenced event.
The City Commission approved this applicant last year for the same seasonal sale of Christmas trees for 36 days, with permission to operate the event until 11 pm.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends a conditional approval (see attached)
FISCAL IMPACT: The application fee was waived for this event because the Kiwanis Club of Margate/Coconut Creek is a non-profit organization.
