AUTHORIZING THE APPROVAL OF A TASK ORDER FOR CRAVEN, THOMPSON & ASSOCIATES, INC., FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES FOR THE SERINO PARK PROJECT
BACKGROUND: The Board has directed Staff to move forward with improvements for Serino Park including, but not limited to, a new playground area and bathroom building. As Staff began developing design criteria, it was suggested that the playground improvements and the bathroom might be best handled as separate projects because of the different nature of the improvements that may be better suited to different designers and contractor specialties. It is also likely that the playground and possibly the bathroom can be executed under existing (piggyback) contracts which could significantly expedite the project completion. Staff has received proposals and is continuing to research and evaluate the best approach to the project(s) between design/build, design/bid/build, piggyback contract(s) or a combination thereof.
Regardless of the framework to be used, the first necessary step is the preparation of a current survey of the park. The attached Task Order provides for that survey which can be completed as final decisions are made regarding the design and construction of the improvements.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Task Order for a boundary and topographic survey of the Serino Park site.
