A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING EXPANSION OF CITY SPONSORSHIP OF THE REGISTRATION FEES FOR MARGATE RESIDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN CITY OF MARGATE RECREATION SPORTS LEAGUES THROUGH THE 2021 FISCAL YEAR; PROVIDING FOR TWO REGISTRATIONS PER CHILD; PROVIDING FOR EFFECTIVE DATE.

BACKGROUND: At the June 3, 2020, City Commission meeting, the City Commission approved sponsorship of the registration fees for one Margate child to participate in City sports leagues for the 2020-2021 season. Funding in an amount not to exceed $100,000 was allocated from the Citizens Project Initiatives account. As of February 10, 2021 there is $63,610 remaining from the approved allocation. Based on the maximum voucher value of $150, there are approximately 425 vouchers available to be claimed.
This resolution provides for extending the sponsorship from June 3, 2020 thru September 30, 2021 and for allowing no more than two sponsorships per child during this time period.
