Title

REINSTATING THE MCRA’S LANDSCAPE IMPROVEMENT MATCHING GRANT PROGRAM

Body

BACKGROUND:                     The Board approved a moratorium on the acceptance of new applications to all grant programs under Discussion and Possible Action at the MCRA meeting on August 20, 2019. Executive Director Jeff Oris recommended an evaluation of all the grant programs in place at that time.

At the MCRA meeting on December 10, 2019, Mr. Oris presented a revised Landscape Improvement Matching Grant program which was approved by the Board via resolution 616 (copy attached).

At the next MCRA meeting on January 15, 2020, the Board formalized the August moratorium via resolution 627 which directed staff to discontinue acceptance of new applications for all grant programs approved prior to December 1, 2019. For clarification purposes, the Landscaping grant program approved December 10, 2019 was available but not released pending finalization of the design guidelines. The intent was to release the new grant programs simultaneously.

All the current grant programs were discussed at the MCRA meeting on April 14, 2021.  MCRA staff is recommending release of the Landscape Improvement Matching Grant program as approved on December 10, 2019.
