Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING CHANGE ORDERS TO THE VINSON PARK BOND PROJECT: CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 IN THE AMOUNT OF $669,422, AND CHANGE ORDER NO. 3 FOR $94,896.85.

Body

BACKGROUND:                      The City Commission authorized a budget amendment for Vinson Park Bond project to increase the scope of the project to include the removal of the existing clay baseball fields, and replace with artificial turf designed for baseball. Change order no. 3 is for replacing the existing doors on the concession building, remove/replace rotting wood siding with hardi board siding on the concession building, and install shade canopies of the existing spectator seating areas.

These change orders are the most efficient and cost effective method of adding the additional scope of work to the project. Issuing these change orders will control the quality of the work, minimize construction timeline, reduce the City’s exposure to work defects, and most importantly, guarantee all work performed will be covered under a single vendor’s warranty.

RECOMMENDATION:                     To approve

FISCAL IMPACT:                      335-6531-572.65-81; $764,318.85 total cost of change orders

$ 108,518.35 - remaining monies needed to be transferred from the contingency account due to additional scope.
