Title
WAYFINDING SIGNAGE PROGRAM
BACKGROUND: The MCRA Board approved the Wayfinding Signage Program developed by Saltz Michelson in November, 2018. The program serves as a master plan for signage throughout the City by establishing a consistent, attractive design theme and common elements for a dozen different types of signs that vary by size, function and location. The sign program identified approximately 100 potential sign locations citywide with 56 of them being in the MCRA District. A copy of the Wayfinding Signage Program is attached.
To date, there have been two program signs designed, permitted and completed: a large community identity sign with water feature for the Winfield Boulevard neighborhood, and a small park identity sign at David Park. The designs for both signs incorporated most of the elements from the sign package with a few modifications, excluding the wave at the top.
MCRA staff is looking for Board direction on whether to continue with the Wayfinding sign program with modifications or to pursue a whole new design.
RECOMMENDATION: For Board direction
FISCAL IMPACT: $200,000 has been budgeted in FY 20-21 for signage in the MCRA.
