CONSIDERATION OF ADDITIONAL SIGNAGE ON COVERED SPORTS FIELD FACILITY ENTRY FEATURE
BACKGROUND: The original design of the “H-shaped” entry feature at the north end of the covered sports field called for an illuminated City logo on either side of the entry structure. This was changed during construction to swap out the logo for the City Seal. It has been proposed to possibly add additional signage, “The City of Margate”, on the crossbar as shown on the attached drawing. Backlit, reverse channel letters would be used, examples of which are shown in the included photographs. The cost for the fabrication and installation of this signage is $16.845.20 as detailed in the attached quote. If the same lettering is also installed on the inside of the entry structure, the additional cost would be slightly less ($12k-$13k est.) if done concurrently with the outside sign.
RECOMMENDATION: For Board review and direction
FISCAL IMPACT: Estimated cost is $16,845.20 for fabrication and installation of back-lit. reverse channel letters for “City of Margate” on crossbar at the entry. There would be additional estimated cost of $12,000-$13,000 to have same lettering installed on the inside of entry structure, if done concurrently with the outside sign. A budget transfer and/or Change Order may be necessary depending on the Board’s recommendation for additional signage.
