Title

ATLANTIC BOULEVARD WALL EXTENSION FEASIBILITY ASSESSMENT

Body

BACKGROUND: The Board previously directed staff to assess the possibility of extending the neighborhood wall along certain unfilled segments of Atlantic Boulevard, towards the westward portion of the city within the CRA boundary.  Through a separate task order under the Atlantic Boulevard Beautification Improvements project budget line, staff engaged consulting group, KEITH Engineering, Inc., (aka: KEITH) via the existing MCRA 2021-02 General Engineering Consulting Services Agreement, to perform professional engineering consulting services by conducting a feasibility assessment of additional neighborhood wall installation and/or foliage edges along certain segments of Atlantic Boulevard and to provide general recommendations based on findings. The areas of focus for this effort include: SW and SE corners of Atlantic Boulevard and 80th Terrace; SE corner of Atlantic Boulevard and 77th Avenue (from the SE corner of 77th Avenue to midway of the Canal, east of 77th Avenue); and segments of Atlantic Boulevard adjacent to the FLP easement. It must be noted that emphasis was placed only on these focus-areas located within the designated borders of CRA. A representative from KEITH will present this item to the Board.

RECOMMENDATION: Provide staff direction for moving forward with the findings of the Atlantic Boulevard Wall Extension Feasibility Assessment for the noted areas.

FISCAL IMPACT: Project is still at the feasibility assessment stage. Fiscal Impact to be determined upon the Board’s further direction. After which, staff will provide an estimate of proposed costs for other project stages moving forward.
