Title

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MARGATE, FLORIDA, APPROVING PRICE INCREASE OF $4.05/TON FOR COMMODITIES AWARDED IN THE CONTRACT WITH FLORIDA SUPERIOR SAND, INC. (CO-OP BID NO. 2018-001) AS A DIRECT RESULT OF A FUEL COST INCREASE; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Body

BACKGROUND:

The City of Margate acting as lead agency for the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group issued Bid No. 2018-001 for Aggregates, Top Soils, and Sand.  Resolution 17-146 awarded the bid as a multiple award to Austin Tupler Trucking, Inc. and Florida Superior Sand, Inc.

As provided for under the terms of the original bid document, Florida Superior Sand, Inc. has petitioned the City for a price adjustment to increase the per ton price of all awarded items by $4.05 per ton due to a fuel cost escalation.  A copy of the price adjustment request along with the associated fuel cost increase documentation is included in the agenda item backup.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve $4.05/ton price increase for all items awarded to petitioner.

FISCAL IMPACT:                     Fiscal impact directly to the City of Margate is expected to be negligible because the City has not during the current contract period purchased any of the items affected by the increase from the petitioner.  The affected items are primarily for golf courses, playgrounds with sand surfaces, and masonry projects that have been areas of need for some of the other participating purchasing cooperative group agencies utilizing this bid and not the City of Margate.
