BACKGROUND:

Impact fees are collected from development of land so as to ensure that new development bears a proportionate share of the cost of capital expenditures necessary to provide police protection in the city. Funds collected from police impact fees shall be used for the purpose of capital improvements to and expansion of police protection.

The Police Department has identified two areas of improvement that are in dire need and currently expanding its capabilities.  This includes expanding the safety and security of our Special Response Team and our Canine Unit.  Both areas are of high risk that are vital during times of severe crisis.

RECOMMENDATION:                     Approve

FISCAL IMPACT:  Not to exceed $925,000.00
