APPROVING THE FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT FOR LEGAL SERVICES BETWEEN THE MARGATE COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AND WEISS SEROTA HELFMAN COLE & BIERMAN, P.L.
BACKGROUND: The MCRA entered into an Agreement for Legal Services with Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L. on December 19, 2019. The Agreement was for an initial term of three-years, with an option for two additional one-year extensions. If approved by the Board, this resolution would authorize the first one-year extension of the Agreement, commencing December 19, 2022 and ending on December 18, 2023. The amendment would also provide for an adjustment in the hourly rate the firm would charge the MCRA as follows: increase from $225 to $240 for Partners and Associates; increase from $125 to $175 for Law Clerks and Paralegals. All other terms and conditions of the Agreement would remain the same.
RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the First Amendment and one-year extension to the Agreement
FISCAL IMPACT: Increase in the hourly rates as described above. Funding would be provided for under the Professional Services-Legal account #140-0510-512.31-01
